I teach 10th grade Advanced Placement European History students in a high need, low-education level community.

My AP European History class is the first Advanced Placement course that students have the opportunity to take at my school. It is a struggle to teach them not only the information needed for the class and the corresponding national exam, but also the skills required to make them successful in future AP courses and on to college. I have found that students who are successful in their first AP course are more likely to continue on with the AP program. My goal is to get these students, most of whom are low-income and whose parents are not college educated, to see that they can succeed in a college level course and give them the confidence to attempt future Advanced Placement courses.

Though their primary textbook is a great resource of information, it is not handy for them when it comes to reviewing for the national exam in April/May. The AP test prep books would give them easy access to review information while offering sample questions as well as full exams to get them the confidence they need when going into the AP Exam.

Your help will ensure that my sophomore students succeed in an extremely challenging course and continue to further challenge themselves by thriving in the very daunting world of Advanced Placement.
