These props will become part of a collection of studio items that will allow for student choice and creativity in their photography work. Having a wide variety of props will ensure that all student have access to making exciting works of art.
A box of Paper Mache animals and letters, wood manikins to pose, colorful corrugated backdrops and reflective mirrors for visual tricks will help motivate students to be engaged in their learning and collaborate with classmates.
Students will be able to position props in the background and foreground of their scenes to create shallow depth-of-field blur, as well as employ other shooting techniques.
These learning activities will integrate the National Art Standards including: Anchor Standard 1: Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work.
Anchor Standard 2: Organize and develop artistic ideas and work.
Anchor Standard 3: Refine and complete artistic work.
Having the requested materials, I hope, will increase student participation and achievement in learning various concepts of photography. Students will have opportunities to print and display finished works of art. This typically generates a sense of pride in my students accomplishments and I've seen them enjoy sharing these moments with peers and families.
