My Students

As a new special education teacher, my goal is to make my classroom feel like home to my students. I want them to come to school every day feeling like they belong and are a part of a family. My classroom will be a community of learners that work together to accomplish their goals and dreams. I want my classroom environment to feel bright, energetic, encouraging, and safe.

My students are high school age and have autism.

They come from many different school districts around the Metro-Detroit area. A large number of my students receive free breakfast and lunch through Title I support. Despite their hardships in life, my students are eager to learn and grow as individuals. They are excited about learning and accomplishing their goals. I am honored that I get to help my students reach their full potential.

My Project

My high school students with moderate to severe autism are in need of health and wellness resources due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This pandemic has created a lot of questions and confusion among my students. I am hoping to help answer their questions and ease their minds through lessons about health, wellness, and safety.

These are lessons that will help my students understand the pandemic while learning valuable life skills.

Teachers Pay Teachers have great materials that can be used online or printed as hard copies. These resources would be a huge asset to my teaching!
