This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are wonderful, hard-working individuals who want to improve every day. Our ELA classroom features a variety of learning opportunities to reach all of their individual needs, as well as their many different reading levels.

Most of my students come from homes where little-to-no English is spoken, which adds unique challenges for them, but they don't let these challenges stop them!

I am excited to introduce my students to so many new adventures this year through reading. Thank you!

My Project

In my third grade ELA classroom we will complete a reading unit all about treasure. We read and learn different things that people may consider to be treasure, but we have a huge emphasis on reading and studying Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson.

While we have been able to complete this unit in the past using read alouds and technology, there is something special about getting to hold your own chapter book that my students are missing out on.

You would be helping instill a love for reading in my each of my students by allowing them to fully engage with a classic novel.
