In my third grade ELA classroom we will complete a reading unit all about treasure. We read and learn different things that people may consider to be treasure, but we have a huge emphasis on reading and studying Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson. While we have been able to complete this unit in the past using read alouds and technology, there is something special about getting to hold your own chapter book that my students are missing out on. You would be helping instill a love for reading in my each of my students by allowing them to fully engage with a classic novel.
