Students, Students, What Can You Hear?

My students need high quality headphones so they can effectively and comfortably use their new Google Chromebooks in the classroom.

My Students

Many of my students come from broken homes. Homes where they are not fed three hot meals a day, homes where their air conditioning may or may not work, homes where they are sleeping on the floor. They tuck themselves in at night and get themselves on the bus at 6am each morning. This absolutely breaks my heart. But, it brings me enormous joy to know that I can make a difference in them.

I can be that positive person in their lives.

I can be their "safe place." I can teach SO many things! I can love them as my own. And I do!

At school, they are given a hug every morning. At school, they are fed a free hot breakfast and hot lunch. At school, they learn manners and how to follow rules. At school, they learn that they are capable of FAR more than they ever thought possible. I love that I get to be their teacher at school for 180 days and witness them reaching their goals, learning how to make friends, and blossom into who they are destined to be!

My Project

My students are in need of high quality, comfortable headphones to wear while they are using their new Google Chromebooks. We recently receieved twenty Google Chrombooks for our classroom so our students will have an avenue to practice typing and test prep. While they LOVE using these devices to strengthen their skills, it's difficult to concentrate because we don't have enough comfortable headphones for them to wear. Their ears are little and earbuds don't stay in their ears very well and they don't like to wear them. I currenlty have six pairs of these headphones in my classroom (also funded through a grant) and EVERYONE wants to use them. I PROMISED them I'd try to get 16 more so everyone could have a nice pair. :) They ask me every day if we got them yet! :)
