Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This Donorschoose project will help me provide my students with books and stories with characters representing their race, ethnicity, and culture. I have students at my school that come from all over the world. Many of my students have experienced trauma, poverty, and emotional challenges. Many are refugees, immigrants, and asylum seekers.

My school counseling office serves students from 30 countries that speak over 20 different languages that struggle with many mental health challenges.

Students of immigrants are often considered to be at increased risk of mental health problems due to families' immigration-related stress and perceived discrimination and prejudice. These books will help facilitate conversations with my students and provide them with valuable resources.
