As a professional school counselor, much of my work is done with students in small groups. When I pull my small groups I would love to create a cozy and inviting space for students to feel safe to share with others. As a first year professional school counselor I am in the process of acquiring materials to create that safe space for young students to feel comfortable sharing. The students will utilize this safe and friendly seating area to share their concerns and goals. This child friendly seating space will make it comfortable for sitting and sharing. These items are easily cleaned for sanitary compliance. Being able to sit in an intimate and productive space with fun and age appropriate furniture will help facilitate communication and sharing. At this time, my office does not have any seating for students. The schools resources are very limited do to serving a Title 1 Community. The need at this school is so great. Your support and help is greatly needed. Many of my students come to my school having experienced trauma, poverty, hunger, developmental delays, and immigration struggles in their young life. These students struggle with loss of identity and familiarity of their environment. Creating a space and inviting therapy area that is inclusive, safe, and nurturing is critical to their social and emotional development.
