This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I’ve been teaching transitional kindergarten and kindergarten since 2012 and these last couple of years we have noticed that our students are lacking in coordination and motor skills. We would love to implement these three-wheeled scooters to generate an eagerness and desire to strengthen the areas of concern. This by will also help with physical activity and wanting to get their bodies moving.

Having roughly 40 students and only a few scooters, will also help in their listening, speaking, and communication skills as they will need to learn to share these scooters.

My goal for obtaining these scooters would be to promote engagement and desire for physical activity while working on coordination and motor skills. I want my students to see that learning can be fun.

Our students would benefit from this project being funded because our community is mostly low-income and migrant farm workers. Outside of school, our community members do not often have the means to give their children these items at home. We try to do all that we can while they are with us, in our care, and at school to bring opportunities to them.
