This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever started to read a book and simply cannot stop reading, the book is so enticing that you just want more, you want to know what happens next, you want to allow your imagination to travel within the book? My third graders want the adventures of Jack and Annie with Magic Tree House books!

I teach 22 students with the limited resources available at our school.

At times not having resources makes it difficult to teach. With our growing population in classrooms, we as teachers have to find ways that will better engage our students to become better readers. At times is is difficult because our school is Title 1 and cannot afford to buy classroom sets. We need your help in purchasing a classroom book set from the Magic Tree House Collection so that my students can learn to read, practice their phonics, and help build their fluency. My student population is extremely diverse and composed primarily of lower economically disadvantaged children where many come from homes where many parents cannot read and thus students are deprived of having that great book and adventure read to them. Many of my students receive free and reduced lunch and even with the setbacks in their lives they come to school ready to learn and they love reading, especially books that are adventurous!

My Project

By having classroom books from the Magic Tree House Collection, my students lives will be forever changed. My students will finally be able to have enjoyable books read to them that go with our content objectives. We will be able to travel through the book and take on a learning experience in which we will be able to compare and contrast characters, write summaries of chapters, discuss verbally through pair sharing the events within a book. Most importantly my students will have the joy of holding their own personal book, where we no longer have to share with three other students. We need your help to be able to travel the adventures of Jack and Annie and we also need reading comprehension games that will allow my students to learn and practice their phonics skills in a more engaging and enticing way other than paper. Reading is the key to our future, but at times not having books that interest a student will have a detrimental impact on their learning. Help us become GREAT READERS!

As you can see we have to function with numerous setbacks and this project would impact the lives of young learners and encourage them to strive for levels they never thought they could reach.

Furthermore, my project will allow my students an escape from their unfortunate position and engage them in ways that only Reading can. Please allow my students to experience joyous moments, even if it is just in their imagination with Jack and Annie. Magic Tree House books inspire all students to READ!
