Students Reading All the TIME!

I would like to get 42 subscriptions to Time for Kids magazine for my students.

The children in my class are very sweet, but many read at below grade level and come from low to middle income families.

They need reading material that is fun to read and they may take home and keep. The monthly magazine, TIME for Kids, would be the perfect solution to providing good reading at their level. It is fun, interesting and the students will want to read it.

The students could take this magazine home to practice reading and have fun doing it. It will not seem like a schoolwork. Anything that will encourage them to read at home will help in our battle to bring these little ones up to grade level readers and beyond! Many of these sweet children are reading below grade level and come from low to middle income homes. Many of them do not have books or reading materials at home. Most of them struggle with reading and therefore do not read for enjoyment. They will only read when the teacher forces them to do so. However, they enjoy magazines in school and willingly pick them up and solve the puzzles and read the stories. These children need encouragement to read. Many of them come from families where they do not see adults reading and therefore do not have role models who encourage them to read. If we can get these fun magazines into their homes and into their hands monthly, I feel certain that these children will read more. This small investment could make a world of difference in a child's future. It could be the impetus to change their view of reading and school, and help them to be successful in life.

It may make all the difference in the world! Once they learn how much fun reading can be, hopefully they will read, read, read! Right now, reading is a huge barrier for them to overcome. TIME magazine may make this struggle to read a forgotten memory.
