Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I have chemistry classes, and the environment and the way we pollute it are of great importance to me. I believe that all of us should learn about how we pollute the environment, what our responsibilities are, and how we can help save the planet and the environment.

I have noticed that my students dispose of their mechanical pencils instead of refilling them with lead.

Upon questioning them, I discovered that they do not purchase lead refills, but instead buy a box of mechanical pencils each time the lead runs out and they use a new pencil. This results in unnecessary waste and pollution.

These plastic pencils will not be recycled and will remain in landfills for many years. Therefore, I decided to purchase lead and requested my students to notify me when they completed their lead so that I could give them the next one. I hope to do my part in protecting the environment as much as possible.

I would greatly appreciate your assistance in teaching my students how to reuse their mechanical pencils instead of throwing them away. This will not only help to reduce waste but also instill in them a sense of responsibility towards our planet.

Thank you for your support in making a positive impact on our environment.
