I teach in an urban elementary school as a general art teacher, having the benefit of teaching all grades K-8. 100% of my students qualify for economic assistance, free breakfasts and lunches. Despite the challenges my students face, they are incredibly creative and eager to express themselves in the art classroom.
Highly motivated, forward thinking, and excellent problem solvers; my young artists thrive when presented with creative challenges.
They all enjoy expressing themselves, and excel at art making with traditional and contemporary tools. Despite their economic background and lack of exposure to new technology, I try my best to expose them to resources that reflect the world they are growing up in. I am fortunate to have the opportunity to see these students grow from year to year, and am constantly amazed at what they can achieve!
These products will allow me to show the students the process of T-Shirt making, printmaking, and contemporary maker space production. The Cricut will be an infinite resource for allowing students to understand commercial product design, graphic design, and will compliment my printmaking materials to expand the capabilities of my students using STEAM.
From T-shirt design to poster printing, there are countless possibilities these 21st century tools will provide to aid in allowing my student's creative dreams come true.
The longevity and innovative capabilities of these devices are sure to provide an adequate representation of the contemporary art world. This could be life-changing for my students.
