Students Give Back

Help me give my students the ability to give back. We want to make care packages for the homeless that includes several hygiene products. Student will also grow a memorial garden for lives lost from our school community.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our Middle School hosts a Mentoring program that has been formed to assist all students in our school with extra support they may need to get through the day, week, month, or school year. This program consists of self-less mentors who donate their time and love to students who need a shoulder to lean on. Our students find community, belonging, love and patience in a caring environment that allows each student to be the individual they are. The program is run so that students learn about themselves through giving.

The Mentor and Mentee Program will have our mentee student, alongside their mentors, make care packages for the homeless, which will include self-care items.

Many of these items are supplies that may be taken for granted because they are located in our bathrooms at home.

There are many people in our community who do not have access to a bathroom on a regular basis. Therefore, we would like to write a heart warming card to show these individuals that we care. In addition to the card, such items that would be included in the care packages are: toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wipes, hand sanitizer, lip balm, gloves, hats, socks, snacks and a juice box. My students are hoping to brighten someone's day.

Additionally, the Mentor and Mentee Program is planting flowers in our memorial garden to remember all we have lost in our school community. Sadly, the members in our memorial garden have included two children this year and one teacher. The students are greatly affected by these loses and plan to brighten up the memorial garden with colorful perennial flowers, so others can see beauty in life and continue remembering every year.
