Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach language arts (reading and writing) to forty-three migrant children at a Title I, Power 3, Renaissance, ERT (Extended Day) public elementary school in a rural part of our county. Many of these students live in a migrant camp.
They are sweet, thoughtful, hardworking, and have an amazing understanding of the importance of education all of which makes me proud to be their teacher.
They attend school each day with smiles on their faces, eager to learn, and grow.
My Project
Welcome to our class! Our classroom is filled with students that were displaced by Hurricane Maria.
These students are in need of school clothing and new shoes to replace what was lost during the storm.
This donation will make a huge difference in their lives. Our new students are from Puerto Rico and attend class every day with a desire to learn and have a smile on their face but unfortunally, they have lost many of their belongings in the storm and would benifit from some new shoes and clothing. I met with each of these darlings and they selected the clothing and shoes attached to this project. New clothing would really help build their confidence and make adjusting to a new school a little easier.
