Help me give my students the power of technology! I have been building my tech library over the past few years and these next items will allow for my students to have access to technology in the classroom!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are from various parts of downtown Cincinnati, taking 1-2 hour bus rides to get to school or to a practice or home from a game etc. 98% of our school is on Free lunch for low income homes. My students are my kids, who have seen so much in their little lives-from our neighborhood school gun violence to multiple kids in our area committing suicide, I want to allow for all to receive the necessities to succeed.
My Project
Since COVID, there has been a HUGE shift to using tech in the classroom. Our district has a 1 to 1 device ratio for kids, but it doesn’t always play out perfectly. This is because our students are so transit going home to home, they don’t come prepared with their computers. Whether they have left it at a home they slept at, on the bus, or even stolen they are without a device. I run into the issue of creating fun and interactive lessons, but not being able to execute because students do not have a device. I have a few tablets I have readily available within the classroom, but most of the time I am in need of more. Students also do not have readily available access to printing. This project would help tremendously within our classroom!
