Our school is an academically successful, rural high school that is filled to the brim with about 900 wonderful students. We serve our military community. Our students are smart, athletic, and driven to succeed.
In the state's ranking system, our high-performing high school has been ranked as a top ten public high school in NC for eleven consecutive years.
We are proud of our success in the classroom.
On September 13, 2018, our community was hit hard by Hurricane Florence. Again, in 2019, we were hit by Hurricane Dorian. Although the hurricanes might have re-shaped us, they won't define us. Even though the storms seem so long ago, we are STILL in recovery mode. We were "CarteretStrong" then and my students remain that way now: strong, resilient, flexible, and hard-working.
And NOW, we are dealing with a school closure due to COVID-19.
My Project
While we are a one to one high school, our awesome students were not given adequate accessories for their Chromebook devices. These headsets with microphone come with multiple ports for recording. My students will be able to create wonderful multimedia projects whether at home (blended learning) or here at school. These headsets will allow my students to record their voice within these projects expressing their own conclusions about historical events or persons. Students will also use their headphones to listen to, watch, and discuss online material during virtual learning sessions.
