This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a STEAM school where most of our students have grown up together within our school family. We use technology to integrate many subjects and our students thrive within a project based curriculum. Many of our students come from a Hispanic background and we have a growing English Learner population.

My Project

My students love flexible seating, but many of our classroom items are falling apart. Students would appreciate floor seating options and sturdy lap desks to help them feel comfortable and be productive.

A strong classroom community is built on student voice and choice.

They enjoy spreading out around the classroom during lessons, group time, and individual time and these items would help give them the opportunities they crave. When students are comfortable in their environment and feel respected enough to be given choices, they are more engaged in their learning.
