This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

About My Students

Julie and Sierra are leading a group of students in this project that connects community and our school while exposing students to a valuable lifetime experiences. Julie and Sierra are leaders by example, demonstrating leadership , commitment , determination and great technology skill sets. They have the ability to communicate the projects needs to all involved, the community, staff, students and media. Julie and Sierra are very excited to get the necessary tools that will allow better marketing and data management.

Students will organize for events that involve free pet food distribution and free spay neuter for community pets. Our city has the most stray animals in the entire state and unfortunately leads in the euthanasia rate at the county shelter. This project will benefit the community and expose students to surgical procedures as they assist the veterinarians during the neutering of pets. Students will develop technology skills in order to maintain data, develop flyers and analytical skills when interpetating data. Students will develop great communication skills when organizing students, speaking with community and donors. These skills prepare them for college and careers.

In Their Own Words

My name is Julie and I head the media portion of this project. We need better technology to create flyers, data collection, data storage and spreadsheet development. This data will better prepare us for organization of events. This project will decrease the pet over population in the city and expose students to great surgical procedures as they assist the veterinarians.

This project will definitely prepare us for college and career. This project empowers us the students to facilitate the entire process of organization, media coverage, distribution of food, assisting in surgery, scheduling appointments, recovery of pets, sterilization of environment and collection of data. One of my jobs is delegation of tasks and task leaders and managing time and execution of tasks.

This project will decrease the overpopulation of pets within our city by offering free spay neuter clinic to resident pets. This will also lower the shelters euthanasia rates of homeless/unwanted pets . This project will also educate the community on healthier pet care tips and lessen the financial burden to households by providing free pet food to resudents.
