My students need their own copies of the big books and classroom lesson books from our reading and writing programs so they can enjoy them during their independent and buddy reading time.
My students are fun-filled, energetic, and love learning. They come in ready to learn and are so full of excitement to see what the day will bring. We live in beautiful Southern Maine, and our students come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds.
My students are avid readers and writers.
Using the books and lessons from our room they delve into new ideas and explore and create new worlds through pictures and print. They love nothing more than to find a good spot and read to themselves and to each other.
My Project
We are fortunate to have great reading and writing curriculum books in our classroom. They are full of really great big books for whole class learning. The big books help students see all of the wonderful pictures and text features. Students often want to reread the books after the lesson however, the big books are HUGE and hard to handle.
This project will purchase student copies of our big books so that they can enjoy these books during independent and buddy reading times.
This will help with close reading and give them more practice reading familiar texts to themselves and to their peers.
