Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In addition to academic success, supporting our students' social and emotional well-being is a top priority in the culture and climate of our school. Our students are very kind and compassionate which you can see in the way that they treat each other. Our students and staff pride themselves on creating an atmosphere that is welcoming, compassionate, and inclusive. Our goal is to teach our students and their families about how to continue this work at home through their engagement in family-based social-emotional learning activities and by acquainting them with community resources that can help them thrive. Students and families will engage in activities that will help them enhance family relationships, help them to communicate effectively with one another, and work together to problem-solve issues that may impact them individually and as a family. The Student and Family Social Emotional Awareness Fair is going to be an afternoon of fun for our students and their families. Planned activities for this event include: yoga, creating motivational t-shirts, family engagement games, and healthy eating awareness. Students will benefit from this by sharpening their social skills and learning the importance of self-management and self-care. This project will benefit our students and their families as we strengthen the connection between school, community, and home. Our students have worked incredibly hard this year, especially as we continue to move out of the COVID-19 pandemic. We want to reward their hard work through this awesome family-engaging event!
