My Students

My students are awesome! I love working with them as they work hard each day. My students love science and working with hand-on activities. They are always wanting to learn more and they stay engaged in the classroom.

Most of my students can read well, but they have many gaps in math and writing.

It seems that they struggle being able to express their thoughts in both of these areas. My students are eager to learn, but they lack how to solve any kind of real world problems. A lot of my students have missed several days of classroom instruction. They have been sick, or someone in their family has been sick. They seem to have this cloud of confusion over their heads when they are in the classroom.

My students love learning. We have incorporate a variety of learning strategies including doing a lot of assignments online. This helps when the students are out sick, or when they have to stay home. It makes me happy to see the light come on and the cloud start to disperse over their head.

My Project

Many of my students are out for several days at a time. With these resources, I feel that I can help them with some of their emotional stress. The Storyworks and Scholastic News are digital and they will be able to access these from home and still be able to work with a peer in the classroom. The math games will help cover some of the gaps that I am seeing in the students who missed several months of in-classroom teaching. They can also checked out to the student to take home and play with their family during difficult times. The social-emotional writing skills will help them to think about how to overcome certain emotions. The 10 books are also good for the students to see how other have handled difficult situations.
