Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I am asking for 25 ukuleles, which is a class set of them. Ukuleles have become a popular instrument to be taught in the music classroom. Years ago everyone was using recorders to help students be ready for woodwinds in middle school. In a similar way Ukulele prepare students for string instruments.

A class set of ukuleles would allow every student to explore a wide variety of music by playing a string instrument.

The school I work at is a Title I school where we have access to just a few instruments. The only strings instruments are my own personal instruments. This year when I let the students play a couple notes on my ukulele they had so much fun. That is why I want to get a class set so they can explore music using a ukulele.

Ukuleles are an instrument that if treated right will last for years. This means that these Ukuleles will be used by my current 435 students and many more that will come through the school.
