Strumming Up Innovation: Expanding Music Learning Through the Tinkertar

My Project

I value my students’ creativity, perseverance, and eagerness to learn. They bring diverse strengths and perspectives to the classroom, and I strive to provide them with tools that make music accessible and rewarding for all learners.

The addition of Tinkertars will directly support this goal by providing an approachable, innovative instrument that allows our youngest students to experience immediate success in music-making.

Because of their simple design, Tinkertars remove barriers that some students encounter with traditional string instruments while still fostering essential skills such as rhythm, coordination, and ensemble playing. With Tinkertars, students will gain confidence, actively participate in music-making, and develop transferable skills—such as collaboration, problem-solving, and creative expression—that align with 21st-century learning outcomes.
