The students find joy in being able to sit on the floor with or without their classmates. Every day the students in my class excitedly move to the rug every chance and pull out the cushions to sit on (even on the rug). \r\nWhile we are learning phonics or math concepts, the students come to the rug and focus on the board/ learning- up close. It is easy to see them visibly relax once they are on the rug and positioned comfortably. They love to choose a circle to sit on (although they are sporadically placed by design) or even sit on the edge and face in to have a class chat. One day during a lesson, we each laid down on the rug to compare size to a book character. They were in awe of the size difference and having the ability to allow each student that kinesthetic and visual opportunity was a memory they will always carry with them. There are other times we host the other 2nd Grade classes and they can all sit comfortably on the rug or cushions so we can do activities together as a grade level. \r\nOn behalf of myself, the class, and my future classes, we are grateful for your generous gifts to support our classroom environment.
