Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students don’t just attend school—they build community, culture, and pride. One of the most powerful ways this happens on our campus is through music, especially guitar. Our mariachi program is a cornerstone of school spirit, performing at school events and bringing joy to students, staff, and families alike.

But the impact of guitar goes far beyond performance.

For many of our students, music is a form of expression, connection, and belonging.

Through our PBIS program, centered on our school motto “Have CLASS” (Character, Leadership, Attitude, Scholarship, and Service), students earn “CLASS Cash” for demonstrating positive behaviors and growth. We are always looking for meaningful, motivating incentives that celebrate student success in a way that is both memorable and life-changing.

This project will provide 10 beginner guitars that will serve as grand prizes for students who consistently demonstrate positive behavior and engagement. Each month, students will have the opportunity to use their earned CLASS Cash to enter into a drawing to win a guitar of their own.

For many of our students, owning an instrument is not financially accessible. This project removes that barrier and places opportunity directly into their hands.
