This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Returning to school after the pandemic has not been easy. The title one high school students have loss a lot of instructional time due to school closures, poor internet, and dealing with daily personal home issues which have negatively impacted their academic performances. As a result, the students that I service currently are below grade level and are in need of reinforcement items such as a set of Achieve TABE A- M books and a color printer. These class materials could positively target and facilitate their reading, writing, and vocabuary experiences and deficiencies .
Moreover, the materials requested would enhance their critical thinking skills, and empower them to build and work not only on their academic areas, but also with their personalized social and emotional wellness status.
My Project
Each of the Tabe Test preparation books will allow students to work on their deficiencies daily through whole group and independent learning rotations. In addition, students will be able to solve and participate in various tier lessons that will highlight their thinking skills. The color printer will allow the teacher to print various worksheets and drills that will assist students in mastering their test strategies, reading comprehension questions, grammar, and vocabulary skills.
Moreover, the requested materials will empower students to have grade-level academic discussions and elaborate upon their research findings with other classmates without being self-conscious of making mistakes.
