This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The biggest challenge in my classroom is maintaining a large supply of rosin and strings. Most of the students use class materials versus owning. They are full of energy, ready to learn and grown but we can't do that without the necessary materials. My bass section is growing each year!!!
My students are mostly on free or reduced lunch.
They are scholars and amazing musicians that work extremely hard everyday. Most come from two parent homes where each parent works. Our school is very supportive of the arts, but has to meet several needs of the students.
My Project
In order for the instruments to produce sound rosin is needed. It is applied to the bow everyday by 120 students. My students perform 5-6 concerts a year which puts wear and tear on the strings. I have multiplied in bass students since my arrival..I currently borrow from my middle school on performance days. It would be awesome to have enough for all students. My students need rosin and strings.
My students need a new bass for an upcoming performance.
Your donation will make a huge impact on my program.
My students will be able to keep up with the level of playing of surrounding schools. I teach some of the hardest working students in the schools that deserve the best of everything!
