My Students
Our school is a Title I, inner-city school with a diverse population. A full 86% of our students are considered low-income. We are exploring new ways to use data to improve instruction and objectives, the learning environment, and student outcomes. Our pillars for success are commitment, perseverance, and honor. Students are pushed to excel, to achieve great things, and to stay focused on academic goals and pursuits. My students are thriving now on everything I expect them to do. Achieving something in music is performance-based. I have approximately 120 students in bands and orchestras.
My Project
We have a diverse set of students at Bryant Middle School. Diversity requires a wide range of learning styles. In music, there is so much variety as to what students can learn.
Guitar and ukulele playing has a diversity of sound - just like my students.
This project provides the missing pieces to create a mariachi band, folk music of the islands, and overall enjoyment of creating music.
Since students are practicing more at home than ever before, funding this project will provide skills for musicians to get better at playing instruments at a faster pace.
