My Students

Hello, I am the secretary for the counseling department at SSHS. SSHS has a student body count of nearly 2500 students. We have a total of 7 wonderful and outstanding counselors on campus that handle almost 400 students each (based on last names) from 9th thru 12th grade I know the counselors do an outstanding job of working with the students on a day to day. I have the opportunity to meet and greet with the students when they come in to make an appointment to see their counselors.

There are occasions when we have many students that come to the counseling department, just to relieve some stress, or to calm down, when they are having anxiety attacks.

These students are allowed as much time as needed to relax when they come to the counseling department. These students are often suffering from emotional, social, family, and day to day stressful events. It would be great if I could offer them a notebook(s) with a stress relieving, or breathing module they could watch to try and calm them down.

My Project

The tablets would be used to allow students and chance to calm down when they are feeling stressed or when a situation is causing an anxiety attack.

We could use music, games, a stress relief or breathing module tool to help each student to relax and calm down.

Each situation is different, and I will rely on the counselors to tell me what is best for each situation. Some students rely on music, others may want to play games. Some may want to just breathe. Each situation is unique, special.
