Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are incredible.

They walk into our classroom each day carrying more than just backpacks.

Some carry worries about home. Others carry the weight of learning differences that make sitting still feel impossible. Many carry anxiety that makes focusing on a math problem feel like climbing a mountain.

But here's what I see: resilient hearts, curious minds, and an endless desire to succeed.

I watch them fidget with pencil erasers during tests because their hands need to move while their brains work. I see them chewing on shirt collars or tapping their feet, not because they're misbehaving, but because their bodies are searching for something to help them concentrate.

These simple tools will change everything.

A stress ball squeezed quietly during a reading lesson means a child can finally focus on the words instead of their racing thoughts. A flexible pencil means a student with sensory needs can bend and twist while still completing their work. Colorful pens and tiny finger puppets transform ordinary writing assignments into moments of joy and creativity.

The motivational stickers? They're more than just cute images. They're daily reminders that someone believes in them. For students who rarely hear "great job" at home, these small affirmations can be life-changing.

Our students deserve tools that meet them where they are. They deserve a classroom where fidgeting isn't seen as a problem, but as a pathway to learning. Where stress relief isn't a luxury, but a necessity. Where small rewards celebrate their hard work and resilience.
