This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each day I am greeted by 24 smiling faces who constantly remind me why I became a teacher. Simply put, I became a teacher because I wanted to positively impact the lives of children!
I feel so blessed to work with fun-loving children who come to school eager to learn and excited about what the day holds for them.
Although 73% percent of our children qualify for free or reduced lunch, I love the magic of first grade because all of the children, regardless of gender, race, and socio-economic status, see themselves as authors, mathematicians, teachers, learners, and scientists. With each new skill and milestone, they are developing increasing confidence. One visit to our room and you will find children replacing, "I can't" with "If I work at it, I can!"
Every day, we have Guided Reading. During Guided Reading, students have the opportunity to choose from 6 different activities to work on independently, so that I can work with a small group of students who have similar needs. The Lakeshore literacy materials that I requested will be a great addition to our current center rotation and require very little preparation. I have also found them to be great for reinforcing skills in a fun and engaging way.
Thank you for your consideration. We appreciate your support!
