This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This fall, I have a split classroom of 1st and 2nd grade students. I have 10 first grade students and 13 second grade students, making a total of 23 students. B. Elementary, a K-5 school, is composed of 245 students. Most of the students are African American and 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch.
My students like all young children like to move!
With very limited outdoor time and exercise, my students are itching to move their body.
My Project
Allowing students movement in the classroom is a game changer! This kid inspired project will provide my class with many different ways to move while learning. The balance balls will not only overall improve my students well being, but most importantly allow students to concentrate in the classroom.
I have only one bouncy band for a desk, and the student loves being able to move his feet while working!
If this project gets funded I will be able to allow the same experience to more students. Many students like to move their feet and this allows students to do so in a quiet and safe way.
The cushions and stool is one more way students will be able to exercise their mind and core at the same time!
