The plethora of construction paper is useful when the students have different ideas and want to show their creativity with multiple colors. Once the students have created something, they are allowed to sit in the big comfy chair and share what they created. This is the student's favorite. They love to pretend to be the teacher and describe what they made. \r\nFor many of my students I was the first person to describe and allow them to use dollies. Both the boys and the girls got a huge smile on their face when I told them that they get to use the dollies in their latest creations. \r\nThe heavy duty stapler has come in handy when I'm putting together lots of their papers to make class books. A regular stapler would never get through all of the paper from 28 students. The heavy duty stapler goes through the paper smoothly and effortlessly. \r\nOverall, we are thrilled to have so much support from donors like you. Without you our class would be boring and colorless. When they got to see this bin, the students who earned their prize eagerly chose a treat and proudly enjoyed it while learning the next lesson. Students talked about how they were going to work on being the next \"student of the month\" so they could have more choices too. \r\n\r\nIt has been nice to be able to provide students who may have missed a meal or needed a little something to settle their stomach so that the focus could be on learning. Each day at least one student comes to me saying that they are hungry. This breaks my heart. With your generosity I am able to offer the student one of three snack choices. \r\nEveryday between reading and math we put on hand sanitizer and enjoy our snack. I walk around with Cheese-Its (our class fav) and the students have to tell me- \"Yes please\" or \"No thank you\". After I do Cheese-Its I switch to pretzels and ask the students who said \"no thank you\" to Cheese-Its. If a child still says no then their last option is the Goldfish. Then students are given about 10 minutes to take a brain break, chat quietly with classmates, and enjoy their snack. After students have all had snack they are ready to concentrate and get back to learning. \r\nAll of this is possible because you took the time and money to give to our classroom. They were excited to write Thank You cards. One student mentioned it was like Christmas and we were opening gifts. That's just it; your donation is a gift to our little classroom.\r\n\r\nI just finished testing my kids for winter assessments to see how much they have grown and see where they need to work on next. Letter and sound recognition has grown tons. Now we will use our journals to keep working on writing. First the letters and sounds and then reading and writing. We try each day to become better writers. We use the LCD boards almost everyday. My students love how the board writes in rainbow color. They thing that is so neat! It's been a great way to save paper in the classroom. One day one of my student exclaimed, \"Mrs. McKean we are saving paper by using these!\" That made my teacher heart happy. \r\nThe jellyfish lamp sits on the corner of my day and every day I \"catch\" a new student gazing at it. If I forget to turn it on one day I can bet that one of my students is going to mention it to me by the time I take attendance! The lamp creates a calming effect and there are times when we turn off the classroom lights and just stare at the jellyfish as a way to calm ourselves down. \r\nOverall, all the materials included in this project has been put to great use. There is nothing that is still in the packaging.
