Strengthening Literacy Instruction & Organizing for Student Success

I need professional training in the Science of Reading and tools to keep our learning materials accessible.

My Project

As a teacher in a Title I special education classroom, I am constantly seeking ways to improve my instruction and better meet the diverse needs of my students. Many of my learners struggle with foundational reading skills, and I want to ensure I am using the most effective, research-based strategies to help them succeed.

The Science of Reading Fundamentals course through SUNY New Paltz will provide me with valuable training in evidence-based literacy practices.

This professional development will deepen my understanding of how students learn to read and equip me with tools to support phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, and comprehension. The knowledge I gain will directly impact my daily instruction and help my students build confidence and independence as readers.

In addition, the rolling storage cart will help me organize my science and reading materials so they are easily accessible and structured for student use. In a classroom where hands-on learning and differentiated instruction are essential, having organized materials allows for smoother transitions, increased engagement, and more effective small-group instruction.

By supporting this project, you are investing not only in my growth as an educator but in the long-term success of my students. Your generosity will help create a more structured, enriching, and effective learning environment where every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Thank you for believing in my students and in the power of strong instruction to change lives.
