STREAM for Our L.I.T. Library

Help me give my students Science, Math, and Technology resources to add to our collection. With this project, students will have new items in our Makerspace, and biographies about scientists to inspire them to reach their dreams.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Askew's classroom raised $929

My Project

STREAM- Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, the Arts, and Math- This is what 21st Century Learning is all about. Long gone are the libraries where children are shushed and reading quietly in a corner. Instead, imagine the sounds of children that are excited about learning. Sounds of children tinkering, making, creating, designing, reading, and sharing their learning with others.

Learning comes alive in our ¨LIT¨ Library.

This is where future Librarians are In Training! The materials that we will attain for our Title I library will reach over 700 students, where more than half of the population receive free lunch. When I look at my students, this is not all I see. I also see engineers, architects, artists, mathematicians, doctors, and coders. With the materials funded by this project, students will be able to use the Stem Exploration Vehicle set to build models of vehicles using different power sources, learn how gears work through building with the Stem Exploration Gears set, and use illuminated Light Stax blocks to create structures while learning about electricity. The giant tangrams set will allow students to decompose and recompose shapes. Creations are limitless with the Keva Brain Builders! Students will be able to connect to real people such as Vivien Thomas, Maya Lin, Junius G. Groves, and many more while reading biographies of innovators in science, technology, math, medicine, and discovery.

Curiosities will be explored using hands-on materials that encourage students to think critically, create, and collaborate. Students will be able to read biographies about game-changers of the Science, Math, and Technology fields. The possibilities are endless with the resources provided by this project!
