The bracelet kits, art supplies, kinetic sand, and multiplication flash cards gave them something meaningful to look forward to and helped them stay engaged and positive over the break.\r\n\r\nWhen they first opened their gifts, their faces lit up with excitement and gratitude. For some, it was the only gift they received during the holidays—and it truly meant the world to them. They proudly shared their creations and loved having something fun and calming to do at home.\r\n\r\nBecause of how successful and meaningful this project was, I was inspired to create another one for the end of the school year to give my students a joyful send-off. Your generosity not only brightened their holiday season—it sparked a lasting impact. In a Title I school like ours, students often don't get the same access to engaging, hands-on learning experiences that other schools might take for granted. Your contribution made it possible for us to bring science and engineering concepts to life in fun and meaningful ways.\r\n\r\nThroughout the year, we've faced a heavy testing schedule and a rigorous curriculum, which made it difficult to implement STEM Days every single month. However, I was still able to hold at least one STEM Day each quarter—and several more at the end of the year when students needed it most. These days have become a bright spot for students, especially after long weeks of testing.\r\n\r\nUsing simple materials like rulers, toothpicks, tape, and marshmallows, students worked collaboratively to solve challenges that required critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. These activities have not only deepened their understanding of scientific concepts but have also helped build essential skills they often lack exposure to. It's been incredibly rewarding to watch their confidence grow as they experiment, make mistakes, and keep trying—just like real scientists and engineers.\r\n\r\nThe students absolutely love these days and frequently ask when the next one is. Their excitement, curiosity, and determination remind me why these experiences are so vital. Your support helped turn ordinary days into moments of discovery and joy, and for that, we are truly grateful. Our next steps include continuing to build this momentum by incorporating more complex STEM challenges and encouraging students to lead their own mini-projects as their skills grow.","fullyFundedDate":1725032631274,"projectUrl":"project/igniting-monthly-stem-adventures-for-our/8512518/","projectTitle":"Igniting Monthly Stem Adventures for Our Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Johnson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9432358_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1705031787211","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msjohnson14"},{"teacherId":9432358,"projectId":8147323,"letterContent":"Thanks to the generous support from our donors, our classroom environment has been transformed in ways that truly support student learning and well-being. One of the most immediate changes is that students are now able to drink water directly within the classroom instead of making frequent trips up and down the hallway. This simple adjustment has helped them stay hydrated and focused throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe snacks provided lasted for quite a while and had a remarkable effect on student engagement. During many testing days, when lunch schedules were shifted, having a snack on hand helped curb their appetite and allowed them to concentrate better—rather than constantly asking, \"When is lunch?\" This steady source of nourishment gave them peace of mind and the energy needed to stay attentive.\r\n\r\nA particularly joyful moment came when students were able to customize their new water bottles with the stickers supplied. This project encouraged creativity and gave them a sense of ownership and responsibility for their belongings. Many students expressed gratitude for the water bottles, stickers, and snacks, repeatedly sharing how much these resources meant to them.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we plan to build on this momentum by integrating lessons about health, hydration, and personal responsibility.
