As a kid, I always struggled to sit still and be quiet in class. I chose to be a teacher because I wanted to teach in a way that would allow students to be themselves. My class know that as long as they respect my classroom and stay on task, they have the liberty to sit, stand, kneel, lay, etc. while completing work. We take time to dance during brain breaks throughout the day, we eat brain food (Skittles or M&Ms) before big, scary tests, and, working together to learn how to be a productive members of society. As I continue to become more experienced in the field, I hope to add as much hands on learning, collaboration with peers, and movement to my lessons as possible. Learning should be fun and comfortable, catering to everyone's specific needs. It is my goal to be in tune with these needs, providing a learning environment drastically different than the ones I so much hated growing up.
