This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our students want to explore direct and indirect forces on objects. Their performance task is to design something that causes an object to move, stop and change direction using direct force, gravitational force and magnetic force without touching it.

Rub Goldberg Machines and gravity wells are excellent ideas to explore that can meet this design challenge.

We have lots of glass marbles but we need metal balls to be able to incorporate the concept of magnetic force. This is a non-consumable that can be used year after year giving generations of students valuable learning experiences.
