I have 23 boys and girls in my fifth grade classroom. They love to learn and are soaking up all of the knowledge they can get their hands on. Our school is located in South Carolina.
My students come from a variety of home backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses, so to bridge the gap, we are working to create literacy-rich environments where students love school and learning.
As fifth graders, it is easy for them to become disengaged with reading, which makes it difficult to find success at school. We want to change attitudes and minds to help each student reach his/her potential!
My Project
As fifth graders, it is easy for them to become disengaged with reading, which makes it difficult to find success at school. We want to change attitudes and minds to help each student reach his/her potential!
The students of a fifth grade classroom are quite diverse when it comes to strengths, weaknesses, interests and performance levels.
The subscription to Storyworks purchased by this project would be instrumental in meeting the diverse reading and writing skills and needs of my students. Each student would get their own magazine, which in itself motivates them and engages them in the text with colorful illustrations and text features. The magazines include a variety of genres on a multitude of topics that include a little something for everyone!
