The students of a fifth grade classroom are quite diverse when it comes to strengths, weaknesses, interests and performance levels. The subscription to Storyworks purchased by this project would be instrumental in meeting the diverse reading and writing skills and needs of my students. Each student would get their own magazine, which in itself motivates them and engages them in the text with colorful illustrations and text features. The magazines include a variety of genres on a multitude of topics that include a little something for everyone! The best part is that the subscription also includes online resources that I, as the teacher, can use to meet individual reading needs and help students build their weak areas to become better readers, writers, and thinkers. The tasks with the texts also prepare students for requirements on tests and down the road.
