Help me give my students literacy instruction that they can understand.
As students with special needs, they often have vision and hearing issues. Using puppets and felt boards can lead to more understanding.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I hope that my special needs students will get a better sense of stories and letters and numbers. I want to increase their awareness of literacy by using felt characters and felt boards, and puppets in my storytelling. My students will have an easier time making a connection with the story if they are visually seeing the story come to life with puppets and felt boards.
Students with special needs need special ways to understand things.
As a librarian, I really want to increase their enjoyment of stories by using storytelling aids. Literacy is so very difficult for these special young men and women that anytime I can model it it best.
Providing my special students with manipulatives to help them to create characters in the stories, build the characters houses and compare them to their own houses and create puppets for them to tell a story.
