This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach children who are enrolled in an inclusive, collaborative Pre-K program at a public Early Education Center in southern California. I serve families at or below 70% of state median income who are seeking employment. All the students currently receive free meals. We are a Title I school, and many families are seeking permanent housing. My students are eager to learn and surprise me every day with their progress and thirst for knowledge!

My students are preschoolers (ages 3 to 4) with special needs including autism, speech impairments, and other developmental disabilities.

They love to sing and dance, learn and play with engaging toys, show interest in books, and are beginning to learn to recognize letters and numbers!

My Project

Learning should be fun and hands-on! In our inclusive classroom, we strive to provide an environment that does not single students out due to their differing abilities. Many of my students need to see and touch real objects to make important connections that lead to learning. With the requested materials, students will help students use to follow along stories in an interactive way! These materials will help foster creativity, promote memory skills, and meaningful learning experiences that promote language and social-emotional development. Many students do not have materials at home and will need a variety of engaging materials at school for continued practice and learning!
