No matter what my students do or how cute they are they seem to get overlooked when supplies are handed out. Since our curriculum is based on their individual needs, we need lots of help!!
My class is a special needs class in a public school in Florida!
They all have profound mental handicaps and are severely medically fragile. Many of my students are visually and/or hearing impaired. None of them can talk or walk and they need help with the smallest of activities.
My Project
We are asking for assorted storytelling materials, storytelling pieces for a felt board, felt boards, and felt hand puppets. The things we are asking for is to help all of my students see, hear, and touch the stories we read to them. Some of them cannot rely on their vision and some cannot rely on their hearing but they all love to touch everything and they all love stories. Some of our students live their lives in a lot of pain and we would love to give them more pleasure!
In their short lives, many of my students are in and out of hospitals!
When they are in school, we use every chance we can to teach them to communicate with us. Unfortunately that is the most difficult thing to do. Since they can't tell us what is wrong or how to help them, I would like to give them something that will help us make their lives better.
