Help me give my students an alternative to hard tile floor... a carpet for Read Alouds, hands-on math games, word work, and partner activities- along with some tools to make learning extra engaging, exciting, and fun!
My first graders are an excited, unique, and enthusiastic group of Southern Maryland students that make my job exciting and fun every day! They have eagerly embraced our classroom learning style of hands-on, active, and engaging activities. We are consistently practicing making the best choices to create a respectful, collaborative community where everyone feels safe to learn, make mistakes, and be their authentic, special self.
They are consistently challenged and empowered to develop their independence, self-efficacy, and individual interests to become the best readers, writers, scientists, historians, mathematicians, and lifelong learners they can be!
They are so excited to find joy in questioning, wondering, and learning the tools they need to understand and discover the world around them.
My Project
First grade is a time for hands-on learning, where the students are expected to dive into reading, writing, and math skills with even more independence and rigor than before! My students deserve the tools and opportunities to engage in hands-on learning, especially during our math work place (center) times and our literacy activities that require spreading out and working independently. Students will use white boards, playdoh, wikki sticks, paint, and bean bag chairs to read to self, practice working with words, and utilizing multiple modalities to interact with our content. Most importantly, our hard tile floor is uncomfortable for Read Aloud, morning meeting, and sharing times. Your generous support of the color-coded, fire-code approved, classroom carpet will provide that comfortable space for students to gather and learn together as a classroom community.
