First grade is a time for hands-on learning, where the students are expected to dive into reading, writing, and math skills with even more independence and rigor than before! My students deserve the tools and opportunities to engage in hands-on learning, especially during our math work place (center) times and our literacy activities that require spreading out and working independently. Students will use white boards, playdoh, wikki sticks, paint, and bean bag chairs to read to self, practice working with words, and utilizing multiple modalities to interact with our content. Most importantly, our hard tile floor is uncomfortable for Read Aloud, morning meeting, and sharing times. Your generous support of the color-coded, fire-code approved, classroom carpet will provide that comfortable space for students to gather and learn together as a classroom community. By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention, focus, and comfort- you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. Your support of our classroom and my fantastic first graders is very appreciated!
