My Students

My students are determined, energetic learners with a passion to explore and grow. Despite the hardships they face, my students walk into the classroom each day with big smiles ready to learn!

My school is an inner-city school with 100% of students receiving free breakfast and lunch.

Many students live in poverty, struggle with the English language and have extremely limited resources. Some of my students are homeless or in foster care. Others are new to the country, while some live with a caretaker other than their parent.

My Project

Summer is an important time for students to keep reading and improve their language skills.

Numerous studies indicate that students who don’t read or read infrequently during their summer vacation see their reading skills decline.

This project is designed to promote summer reading with the goal for students to continue improving their reading skills. I’ve included a variety of books in my project. Each student will have a chance to browse the titles and select a book to read over the summer. The folders will contain a variety of activities that can be completed to improve reading skills. The sheet protectors will be used to hold assignments completed over the summer.
