My Students

My fabulous students are smart, kind and eager to learn. They have many skills they are learning and practicing daily, not only in academics but also life skills. Our school has the motto to Be Responsible, Only Kind, Always Safe, and Respectful! My wish for them is to carry these lessons throughout their lifetimes.

“For every minute spent in organizing, an hour is earned.” Anonymous

I teach second grade in a Title I school. We reside in a small rural town in which students receive free breakfast and lunch. Even though they are only in second grade and face many challenges, I believe these children should be given the opportunity to have an efficient, organized way to learn while enjoying their educational journey.

My Project

Morning is the most important part of the school day and also having appropriate places to put belongings! We all come in to the classroom and need a place to work that is organized and functional to be efficient learners in our classroom community. I will help the children become more responsible by providing them the tools they need to become organized. However, they need the proper tools to become more responsible at keeping things in order and in their place. They just don't have the right supplies to keep their belongings in an organized way. Everything seems to be crammed in their desks, haphazardly shoved into a folder, or just plain gone forever into the land of the lost!

These organizational systems will make a difference in our learning by having specific places with labels and containment systems for our reading/recording stations for ELA tasks and math stations, as well as our home bases in our community learning groups.

Our organized working areas will become a more sustainable and efficient place where supplies and creations will be found and used in a way that students can learn how to sort and organize their materials needed to become better learners. This will help them show their full potential when they can access the materials they need easily and quickly. They will help us maintain order and be able to organize. Many of my students need help in being responsible for their belongings.
