The excitement began when they entered the classroom and were greeted by their Pirate teacher (me), along with all the decorations. This enthusiasm lasted throughout the school day. There was less \"I miss . . .\" and more smiles/laughs.\r\n\r\nMy little pirates loved dancing like a pirate and listening to some of the read alouds. A few students even tried talking like a pirate. The class couldn't wait to use all the new supplies. They begged me to use the aged paper. My students wrote their names on the front of their aged paper and we drew a pirate ship, through directed drawing. On the back, they drew their own pirate map. The cart has been a great introduction to our classroom, housing all the items that have assisted with calmer days. Our weighted plush has been useful in providing comfort and easing anxiousness. The Spot of Feelings book was instantly used to discuss different feelings a person has and how they can be identified. The students loved the plush feelings that were included.\r\n\r\nThe privacy boards have really helped support the students during their weekly assessments. They increased focus, lessened the worry of possible onlookers and decreased the time spent on each assessment. They were able to pick their color and size of construction paper bringing their creativity to life!! \r\n\r\nMy students were so excited when they saw all the construction paper we received! Students have more options of color to go with their creativity along with size of paper! We still have plenty left over for more projects and crafts! We will even have plenty for next year so students can also participate in fun learning activities! My students love the magnetic whiteboards that are also dry erase! They were used for many interventions and small group centers! With having these binder rings and magnetic boards it allows for all of them to be stored together. It also allows for the anchor charts to be easily found! It saves so much instruction time besides having to go to the back and then use magnets to put on my white board. Being in the United States and having voice in their children's school is so important to my multilingual parents. Many move here to provide a quality education for their children, as well as, a safe environment. Communicating with the translator puts a smile on the parent faces too. \r\n\r\nBoth the children and the parents are grateful to have our electronic translators available all the time!
