This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My PreK students are naturally independent and curious beings. I strive to support these qualities in my classroom by providing opportunities for children to be independent. One way I prep my students for Kindergarten is through independent learning centers. With the 6 drawer storage carts, I can prep ELA, math, and fine motor activities for children to use on their own while I am working with a small group of children. This will allow freedom of choice while fostering self-management skills.

Writing and fine motor development is crucial to early childhood development.

Through sensory play and fine motor materials, children work on this essential skills while they are having fun! This year I want to create a more dedicated space to writing, and I can do so with the multipurpose table. With the rolling paper or chalkboard top, children can go wild with fine motor play. I will use the sensory table for fun experiences with sand, water, rice, beans, and more to develop fine motor skills as well as develop imaginative play.

Many of my students come from multi-children families so these pieces of furniture will allow quiet play spaces with one or two other children who need the opportunity to work and play in solitary or alongside one friend. Your donation will support learners in many different ways!
